For the past decade, I’ve had the honor (ABSOLUTE, honor) of coaching thousands of hockey players across North America. My passion lies in helping athletes become better hockey players by breaking down mechanics, building body awareness, & connection movement to game performance. I work with athletes from mites to pros, & no matter the age or level, my mission is the same: create smarter, faster, more efficient skaters, on & off the puck.

The Evolution: KJ Skating Intelligence™

What started as ‘power skating’ grew into something far more advanced.

After years of coaching thousands of hockey players, it became apparent that traditional power skating methods are not enough. Drills were drilling, edges were edging, but athletes were not retaining the skills. They were improving in time, but not always transferring how to move better were it matters most.

That’s when I began studying how humans actually learn, what wires movement into the brain, how habits are built, & how athletes retain information under pressure. It’s simple, but powerful.

✔️Repetition without intention does not equal growth.

✔️Neuroplasticity is the key to real skill development.

✔️The brain must be engaged to the body to rule adapt.

By layering motor learning principles, biomechanics, and cognitive engagement this method expedites development & creates lasting habit retention. It’s not about what the skater can do on the ice today, it’s about what they can recall & repeat tomorrow, next season, & beyond!

MY STORY

I was a highly competitive figure skater for nearly 15 years. I spent 4-6 hours at the rink or training in the gym every single day to make it to the highest level I possibly could. While at the rink doing my own training, I'd spend many more hours there watching my brother train and watching my brother play ice hockey.

When I was 16 years old, a former NHL player and current Tier 1 coach asked me to take part in teaching edges to the players in his annual summer power skating camp, that's truly where my passion for coaching power skating started. 

At my first skate with hockey players, I stepped on the ice in my figure skates because that is what I knew. I put the guys [who were my age and older] through an incredibly difficult skate. They all were chirping me saying, 'it was easier for me because I was wearing figure skates'. The next week, and from then on, I wore hockey skates and still skated circles around everyone!

CURRENTLY

I teach players of all ages and abilities! From hockey obsessed 2 & 3 year olds all the way up to NHL and professional players. I continue to run camps & guest coach all around the country. I have used the success and experience of my professional power skating business to mentor and guide fellow coaches in developing their skills and building their own thriving coaching practices through my online certification program. I have also used my internet presence to reach & train hockey players from all around the world with my virtual training course KJPS On-Demand. 

OUTSIDE OF THE RINK

As a devoted mom to a crew of kids, family is at the core of my world. My close-knit bond with my entire family adds an extra layer of joy to my life. My son an avid hockey player himself, has brought perspective as a hockey parent. It is fun to watch the game from the sidelines through a different lens!
