Matt Smolley
Calgary, Alberta
My name is Matt Smolley and hockey has been a part of my life since I can remember. I played hockey for 20 years, including Junior and AAA levels, and then began coaching. I have experience coaching in various capacities, ranging from Timbits to U18AAA levels. I am currently a shooting and skills coach, as well as a certified KJPS Power Skating Coach. My goal as a coach is to not only make the players I coach better at hockey, but to develop a love for the game as it has so much to offer. I also have a lengthy background in fitness and off-ice training from my time as a personal trainer, as well as an owner operator of 6 fitness locations. This lends itself well to adding an on-ice and off-ice component to my coaching style. My goal would be to coach at a Pro level one day.

Bill Hamilton
Mitchell, South Dakota
Bill Hamilton began playing hockey at age four in Rosemount, Minnesota. Following a successful youth career playing AAA hockey and four years of varsity hockey with the Rosemount Irish, he transitioned into coaching and player development.
With 15 years of coaching experience, a Level 4 USA Hockey certification, and experience ranging from Squirt to Boys and Girls Varsity, Bill is dedicated to helping athletes reach their full potential.
Skating is the first thing people notice about you as a player, so itās crucial you become a solid skater. As a KJPS skating coach, he combines proven skating development with years of coaching experience. He is committed to helping his athletes build confidence, elevate their game, and maximize their potential both on and off the ice.

Ally Steffensmeier
New Ulm, Minnesota
My name is Ally Steffensmeier and I began playing hockey in New Ulm when I was 6. I just recently graduated from Hamline University where I played defense there for four years. I have various experience as a hockey and skating coach, as well as strength and off-ice speed coach. An athletes game and performance is greatly impacted by the work put in on and off the ice which is why both aspects go hand-in-hand. My favorite part about coaching is helping passionate athletes reach their potential and seeing them improve from the hard work they put in.

Emily Reynolds

I was born and raised in the mid-west. I began my competitive skating career at age 7. I have been coaching skating for 15+ years now, focusing on edge work and power skating. I am in good standing with USA Hockey and a certified Katy Jo Power Skating instructor. I work with players ranging from mites to professional level. I have extensive knowledge in edge work, alignment, proper skating mechanics, and help build players' body awareness.

Marisa Radow
Denver, Colorado
Marisa grew up in Centennial, Colorado and started skating at two years old. She is currently a Kinesiology and Sport Studies student at the University of Denver and is working towards her Masterās Degree in Sport Coaching. With a competitive figure skating background, Marisa is a U.S. Figure Skating triple gold medalist, national competitor, and former NCAA Division 1 varsity athlete. By combining her love of skating with her passion for learning, Marisa helps athletes of all levels develop and strengthen their skating skills from a technical standpoint, paying close attention to detail and mechanics. Marisa works alongside Katy Jo and has assisted her on the ice for many KJPS camps, clinics, retreats, team skates, and group lessons.

Rory Gautsche
Denver, Colorado
Rory has been coaching since 2004, she is a member in good standing with the United States Figure Skating Association, Professional Skaters Association, and USA Hockey. Rory's personal accolades consist of competing in figure skating at the Regional Level in Freestyle and Figures along with competing Nationally in Synchronized Skating. Rory is certified under Katy Jo Power Skating where she as assisted Katy Jo on the ice for the Colorado Thunderbirds AAA program, KJPS camps, and private lessons. Rory currently holds lessons out of South Suburban Sports Complex and Family Sports Center.

Olivia Pellerin

I grew up skating in South Carolina alongside a brother that played hockey and the rink was apart of my everyday life. After competitively skating for 10+ years I ended my competitive career as a 4 time US Figure Skating Gold Medalist. I began my coaching career with Learn to Skate and very quickly fell in love with working with hockey players. Working with my skaters my focus in on teaching them the fundamentals and technical elements in order to help them develop their skills and elevate their game.

My passion for skating began at 7, in Mason City, IA. I was fascinated by watching the older kids, they inspired me. I felt I had to do it. I played hockey for 10 years and continue to rollerblade for exercise and enjoyment. I stepped back into ice-skating full-time 5 years ago when my interest shifted from myself to coaching as my three boys became increasingly involved. I currently coach U8-U12 in Waterloo, IA. I am a level 4 USA hockey certified coach. I have been the power skating coach in Waterloo in the past and I hope to be in the future. When I coach, I bring a fun, high energy environment that the skaters respond to. I teach the fundamentals and how to skate more efficiently and explosively. We focus on improving skating mechanics, including stride technique, balance, edge control, acceleration, speed, agility, stopping, and overall movement on the ice to enhance game performance. Most importantly my goal is to inspire the kids to fall in love with the game as much as I have.

Tori Barbieri

With 20 years of experience in ringette, Coach Tori is a passionate leader on and oļ¬ the ice. Having played seven seasons at the AA level and spent four years with the National Ringette Leagueās Edmonton Black Gold RUSH, Tori brings a wealth of knowledge to her coaching.
A certified KJ Power Skating Instructor, she has spent the last seven years coaching with 200 Ringette/Hockey Development, as well as five years with the St. Thomas More Ringette Academy. Her coaching also extends to numerous ringette teams, where she continues to inspire players with her expertise and enthusiasm for the game.
Tori is deeply committed to helping the next generation of athletes excel, both in sport and in life, with a fun, competitive, and supportive coaching approach.

Lindsay Ketchabaw

With 40 years of dedication to Skate Canada and 13 years as a Certified NCCP Skate Canada Coach, Lindsay is a beacon of passion and expertise in the skating world.
Transitioning from a competitive figure skater to a highly successful coach, Lindsay has seamlessly blended her love for the sport with her desire to nurture and develop talent. Her coaching journey spans all levels of figure skating, from CanSkate and StarSkate to adult programs and synchronized skating. Recognizing a unique need, she also ventured into coaching hockey and ringette players, focusing on small group dynamics. Her keen eye for technical precision has made a significant impact on her students' skating abilities. Lindsay is Skate Canada CanPowerSkate Certified and has successfully completed the KJPS Coaches Certification Course and is eager to share her knowledge with emerging athletes.

RJ Burns
Newburgh, New York
RJ grew up in Pearl River, NY. His passion for skating began with skating on his grandfathers pool, then later buzzing around local rinks. RJ moved to play AAA & Jr hockey, then playing D1 & D3 NCAA hockey with a short pro career in Sweden. After spending some time in tech sales, RJ started coaching with Topline Hockey in 2019. Skating has always been the strongest part of his game and the part he has found most intriguing and challenging. This is reflected in his coaching style and playing style. RJ coaches with the philosophy that skating not something players should dread, but rather one of the most parts of their game and a skill they should try to master. He believes that if a player understands the fundamentals of drills they are more open to being coached and increases their eagerness to learn.

Aidan Bender
Denver, Colorado
Aidan was born in Denver, Colorado where he played youth hockey for Hyland Hills Hockey Association and Rocky Mountain Roughriders. Most recently Aidan played Tier 1 hockey on the East Coast. Aidan has been a long time student of Katy Jo, as he's skated with her since he was a squirt player. Along with training power skating to further his own hockey career, Aidan also grew an interest in helping younger players develop their game through power skating and other skill development. Aidan has worked as an assist coach for Katy Jo for three years and has successfully completed the KJPS Coaches Certification Course. Aidan is a well-rounded in all aspects of power skating and has been able to apply things he's learned to his own game and to the next generation of youth talent.

Heather Johnson
Eau Claire, WI
Heather first put on skates at the age of 4, after seeing the figure skaters in the second rink while her brother practiced hockey. Since then, the ice rink has been a staple in her everyday life. Heather competed in both individual and synchronized skating throughout her skating career. She has been coaching for 20 years and has developed a passion for teaching the basics no matter which ice sport the athlete is in. She is always striving for new ways to teach skaters how to enhance their potential on the ice. Heather has completed the KJPS Coaches Certification Course and is excited to extend this knowledge to up and coming athletes.

Miles McCue
Monument, Colorado
Miles has had a passion for ice hockey ever since he started playing thirteen years ago. He grew up in Plano, Texas and moved to Colorado when he was 15 years old to pursue playing AAA. Miles spent the most recent season playing junior hockey for the Utah Outliers. Miles' advisors, coaches, and mentors have noticed significant improvement in his skating ever since he started working with Katy Jo. The growth that Miles has made in his game just through his improved skating habits has inspired him to teach younger players the fundamentals and principles of skating that are now instilled in him. Miles is a certified Katy Jo Power Skating instructor and looks forward to spending his off-season coaching the amateur players who will follow in his foot steps to playing junior hockey and beyond someday!

Stephanie Wang

Stephanie grew up in Sugar Land, Texas and didn't discover hockey until she moved to Boston - but has been totally addicted since then! She played club hockey at MIT and fell in love with learning all about power skating technique to become a faster, more agile, and more confident skater. Stephanie has since turned that passion into helping other hockey players become better and more confident skaters as well. She has run hockey and skating clinics for adult hockey players and also enjoys teaching the basics and mechanics of skating to all ages and levels. Stephanie is currently training with Katy Jo West of Katy Jo Power Skating and is excited to continue helping hockey players grow their game through skating.
